Almost 100 people are behind bars following a 24-hour drug sweep across Northwest Philadelphia yesterday that netted nearly $200,000 in drugs, guns and exotic animals. The combined efforts of the Philadelphia Police Narcotics Unit and Strike Force, the FBI, the Drug Enforcement Administration and other law-enforcement agencies resulted in the arrest of 92 people in four police districts and the confiscation of $25,000 in cash and $175,000 worth of various drugs, including heroine and Oxycontin, authorities said. Police also found a 3-foot alligator in one of the homes, said Chief Inspector Teri Clark.

Also confiscated were more than a dozen weapons including several sawed-off single- shot shotguns, 9mm handguns, revolvers, an AK-47 rifle and an SKS rifle, similar to the firearm used in the May 3 murder of Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski.

Tests will conclude whether the weapons are linked to previous crimes.

Capt. Debra Frazier of the Narcotics Unit said the law-enforcement collaboration had been aided by concerned community residents.

"They're the real heroes," she said. *
